Wow! I just realised it's been a year since I last did anything on this journal... funny that.

Well, while I'm here, I may as well celebrate an achievement of mine: I have made two lino prints in the past however many weeks and haven't mutilated even one of my fingers. (pause for applause) thankyou, thankyou. *bow*

I've recently (and by "recently" I mean in the time that's passed since my last post... so... a year)  been reading Robin Hobb's books, and can I just say, that author sure knows how to write an ending. Properly. Not ridiculously happy or utterly tragic, a healthy balance of both.

Wait what? I have soy sauce all over my bag. D:

And while I'm at it, I'd like to admit that yes, yes I am procrastinating. *glares at homework*

Lots of stuff has happened lately. But instead of boring you with that, I'd rather bore you with this paragraph of nonsense I wrote when I was supposed to be researching for a history essay of some description.

There is much speculation among experts on the topic of the legendary Telephonic Kaleidoscope Revolutionary Riots od Dusseldorf. The events surrounding this legend are mysterious and often dismissed out of disbelief. Dr. Fredrik Geoffrey has theorised that the seemingly magical disappearance of Crown Prince Benjy Frandenwick was in fact a rare natural phenomenon, which he has identified as Teleosmoporosys. He describes this natural occurrence as "the sudden disappearance of one wearing a flamingo feather jacket and leather boots." It is caused by magnetic fields that appear around the leather boots that conflict with the aerodynamics of the flamingo feather jacket. He warns that these two items of clothing, though mostly harmless on their own, together make a deadly vortex, powerful enough to envelop an entire African elephant.

Be careful of what you wear...

Today I lost a paper-plane tournament.

My paper plane flew like a... folded piece of paper. Which was to be expected really, but my brothers' actually went further than 30cm. It was disappointing to say the least. Even after making a few carefully planned out modifications, namely putting extraordinary amounts of staples in the tip of my plane (no, I don't think of that as cheating no matter what you say), my plane just wouldn't fly! Both my brothers' planes managed to gracefully soar atop the veranda roof so I chucked mine up there too. I didn't want it to feel left out.

Plus I got an iPod the other day! It was very exciting. It's green and I've already used up half the space on it.

PS. This journal entry was NOT inspired by the huge pile of homework on my desk and is in no way a form of procrastination.

PPS. And I am NOT in denial.

Starting from tomorrow I shall be bombarded with exams, or in other words, starting from tomorrow I shall be dead. I should be revising right now but, well, I'm too busy... not revising. Ahem.

At the moment I am reading Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials, which is making it profoundly difficult to advance from not-revising to revising. It is an amazing trilogy, I love it!

My toes are cold. Really cold. Really very extremely amazingly extraordinarily cold. I think they're about to fall off. I shall go and get some socks now.

I am dead. Or just tired. Or perhaps both. I am dead tired.

Today I woke up in the morning, and it's the weekend.  That might not seem such a big deal but it is. I'm not awake on weekends before 12pm. I love mornings, really. I'm just never around to see them. Anyway the reason I was awake so early was because I went to watch my little brother play tennis (it's one of those school things so they put it on at eight in the morning, because they are just that evil.)  It was amusing, his opponent was short and the ball was bouncing over his head. I imagine that would be very annoying.

Anyway, after that I went Fringing. Because the Fringe is on I hadn't been yet. I was very upset by that.  And because I'm a poor broke little soul I just wandered around Rundle St. watching the street performers. There was much machete juggling and fire twirling. It was great!

Now for some time travel (because in the extensive periods of time between posts I do many exciting things I like to talk about, such as colour coding my socks and alphabetising my bookshelf); last weekend I learnt to ride a bike! On Monday my school is taking us on a mountain-biking excursion, because they couldn't be bothered with the usual camp. This was considerably daunting as I didn't even know how to ride a bike on safe, even, non-mountainous ground. ( [info]tiger_cub684 lovingly called me "half-human" upon hearing this information.) So two good friends of mine decided to teach me, and now I can dooo it!  Well, apart from all the turning and breaking and not-crashing-into-letterboxes-and-little-children.  Like I said, I got this bike thing down.

(And also, happy Saint Patrick's Day!)

Well, I have decided to post something here because... because I'm bored. Because I have nothing better to do. Because it's been an eternity since I last posted something and because I should be doing homework. All very good reasons. To write. About something. Probably books and school, because sadly enough that's essentially what my life consists of.

My English teacher feels that not enough people read books and has made it her business to ensure we read for at least half an hour every week for homework. So now, when my parents knock irritably at my door in the dark hours of the night, no longer will I say "just finishing my page!" and then continue to read the next couple of chapters but instead call "just finishing my homework!" and finish the whole book. And yes, that is the most exciting thing that has happened to me ever since my last post. Sad isn't it.

But not really, because I just recently read The Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams and then proceeded to document various sightings of forty-two, it being such an important number and all. One such instance was during a dolphin cruise at Port Adelaide, we actually saw some dolphins, but I didn't take pictures of them, I took pictures of forty-two. And of this half submerged car. And of a pelican that was standing on a stick. Or pole. A pelican that was standing on a long, thin-ish, vertical wooden thing that was sticking out of the water in a stick-like manner.

And, well. That's all.

I have now finished Good Omens.

And I am just as overwhelmed as I was before.

If not even more so.

I would have sent a "Merry Christmas!" But well... I couldn't be bothered. So Merry Boxing Day instead! where I am in South Australia apparently we don't actually have Boxing Day. It's called Proclamation Day. Well how about that.

I am currently reading "Good Omens" by Terry Pratchett and Niel Gaiman and I must say it is absolutely AWESOME. Really, the awesomeness of it is overwhelming. I am quite overwhelmed.

I have a headache. A very headachey headache.

Aaaaand. The only reason I decided to write something here is because I am bored. Not very bored, just regular bored. But bored nonetheless.

This isn't really helping.

I have a headache.

And I'm bored.

And there is nothing I can do about it. I can't even be bothered to care all that much.

Oh well.

I think today is bad. Tomorrow it will be forty one bloody degrees. Have I mentioned that I have no air conditioning? Yes? Well I'm mentioning it again. I have no air conditioning. What's more I live at the bottom of a big, dry, flammable hill. Bloody weather.

It figures that as soon as school ends so does the nice weather. You know, the kind of weather that isn't obsessed with either cooking you or trapping you forever in an ice cube. That kind of weather.

One last thing before I succumb to the fires of hell: GOOD LUCK IN YOUR TRYOUTS JESS.

I have two more days of school left until the Christmas holidays.

I'm more relieved than excited, I can just sit around doing nothing for two months or so. Which won't be as appealing then as it is now. Especially since my house has no air-conditioning and the weather has decided to be all summer-y and hot. So I won't be sitting around doing noting so much as lying on the floor and watching the water evaporate from my body. So much to look forward to.

But really, no matter how hot and summer-y the holidays will be they contain Christmas and my birthday and so I am happy all the same.

Righto, greetings to anyone who happens to be reading this.

I really have nothing else of note to say. Other than I don't own a single pair of toe socks, I have never worn toes socks and the only reason my username is toe sock is that everything else I could think of someone else already had. I even tried "letterbox" and "hedgerow" and was about to move onto trying something that I would have undoubtedly regretted. I don't think I'd like being called "fungustounge". So really I am quite lucky to be toe_sock and am thankful for it.

But even if I don't have toe socks I do have socks. And toes for that matter. In fact I am wearing socks right at this exact moment that are covering my toes in an overall socky manner.

Now I really have nothing else to say.
